Long bio
Velvet Riot is the project of two Barcelona-based producers working at the seam between ambient texture and industrial percussion. Their music does not rush. It listens to a room first — its corners, its concrete, its silences — and then fills it with weight.
The duo formed in late 2024 after years of separate work as engineers, sound designers and DJs in the Iberian and broader European scene. Their first releases circulated as anonymous tape dubs and DJ-only edits before the project assumed its current name.
Their live performance is hardware-first: modular synthesis, dub-style mixing, field recordings layered over machine percussion. Visuals are treated as a co-author rather than decoration — every show is rebuilt around the venue, never reproduced identically.
In 2026 they released the Midnight Static EP, picked up by Resident Advisor and Mixmag, with festival appearances confirmed across Sónar, Dekmantel and Berlin Atonal's affiliated programmes.
